Irish Language Retailer of the Year 2016 to be announced tonight

Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh, Foras na Gaeilge board member and RTÉ broadcaster, will present the award for Irish Language Retailer of the Year at the National C-Store Awards, Shelflife, at an event in Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin 4, tonight.

Foras na Gaeilge has been sponsoring this award since 2009 as part of the Gnó Means Business campaign, which supports those who wish to use the Irish language as an effective tool in the business sector. Since then this award has been giving recognition to retailers throughout the island for their efforts in promoting the Irish language. The criteria for the shortlist this year included signage and service through Irish as well as efforts to carry out marketing through Irish. Foras na Gaeilge Chief Executive, Ferdie Mac an Fhailigh, said that “the high standard and keen competition this year again shows the excellent practice in this area,”and that “the retailers on the shortlist this year are exemplary in the use of Irish as a business tool.”
