Foras na Gaeilge congratulates Áine Ní Ghlinn, Laureate na nÓg

Foras na Gaeilge congratulates the writer, poet and journalist, Áine Ní Ghlinn, on her appointment as Laureate na nÓg. Áine is the first author writing exclusively in Irish to be presented this award. Áine has gained recognition in the area of literature for young people, and she has been awarded many prizes. Áine was awarded the Réics Carló prize three times for Daideo in 2014, Hata Zú Mhamó in 2016 and Boscadán in 2019 as part of the Oireachtas na Gaeilge Publishing Prizes.

Welcoming the appointment, Foras na Gaeilge Chief Executive, Seán Ó Coinn, said, “As someone who has done so much to spread awareness of Irish language literature, as an author, as a mentor for other writers, and as a commentator on Irish language literature, no better person could have been selected to promote the art of writing among young people and encourage them to read in Irish or in English.”

Foras na Gaeilge wishes Áine every success in her new task from now until 2022.
