Statement from Foras na Gaeilge on approval of Business Plan 2025, 11 April 2025
Foras na Gaeilge welcomes the approval of the 2025 Business Plan at the meeting of the North South Ministerial Council in Armagh yesterday, 10 April 2025.
This approval will enable us to reverse the cuts to funding schemes and grants announced by Foras na Gaeilge at the beginning of 2025.
This work will start immediately with the aim of supporting projects and schemes that have been cancelled or cut back for the year where possible.
We will be in contact with grantees and organisations that receive funding from us as soon as possible.
We welcome the re-appointment of the Chairperson of Foras na Gaeilge, Professor Regina Uí Chollatáin (05/05/2025 - 04/05/2030) and five board members, Freda Nic Giolla Chatháin (05/05/2025 - 04/05/2030), Ola Majekodunmi (10/04/2025 - 09/04/2030), Dáithí Mac Cárthaigh (10/04/2025 - 09/04/2030), Dr. Neasa Ní Chiaráin (10/04/2025 - 09/04/2030) and Liam Rushe (10/04/2025 - 09/04/2030). Two new Board appointments were also made: Eoghan Mac Cormaic (10/4/2025 - 9/4/2030) and Rhíannon Nic Fealóin (10/4/2025 - 9/4/2030). Current board member, Maighréad Ní Chonghaile was appointed Deputy Chair of the Board.
The appointments will ensure that we have the leadership for the important years ahead to implement Foras na Gaeilge's Strategic Direction.
The Strategic Direction 2025-2030 will be published on 15 April 2025.
