Congratulating Edel Ní Chorráin on her appointment, Foras na Gaeilge Chief Executive, Seán Ó Coinn, said that “Edel Ní Chorráin’s broad experience in the field of education would be very important working in area of publishing, lexicography and terminology, since it is educational bodies and their pupils and students who mostly use Foras na Gaeilge materials.”

Edel Ní Chorráin will remain on the Foras na Gaeilge senior management team in her new role, with her colleagues Shane Ó hEidhin, Director of Corporate Services, and Breandán Mac Craith, the organisation’s Director of Development Services, who was appointed in his role in 2021 and is the Foras na Gaeilge representative on the Irish Language Services Advisory Committee, and responsible for the implementation of the southern government’s language planning policy outside of the Gaeltacht.

Speaking about her priorities in the new role, Edel said, “It’s a great honour to be appointed in this role in an area that is so important and vital for the development and ongoing vitality of the Irish language.
