Cluasa Capaill ar an Rí: World Book Day 2022 Edition

Foras na Gaeilge is delighted that a special edition of Cluasa Capaill ar an Rí by Bridget Bhreathnach, illustrated by Shona Shirley Macdonald and published by Futa Fata, is available as part of the World Book Day from today, 3 March.

The partnership project between Foras na Gaeilge, the Irish Language Books Programme, An tOireachtas and the World Books Day was announced in October 2021 when it was decided that the 2021 Réics Carló prize book (Book of the Year for Young Readers), which is one of the Oireachtas Publishing Prizes, would be made available as a special edition on World Book Day 2022. The special edition is available in return for €1.50 vouchers.

Cluasa Capaill ar an Rí by Bridget Bhreathnach and published by Futa Fata is among great titles including Deadly! Irish History: Fun with the Celts and the Vikings! by John Farrelly and published by The O’Brien Press, as well as twelve books from other authors, including Sharna Jackson, Michael Morpurgo and Matt Lucas. The full list of the €1.50 books can be found at worldbookday.com/books

Foras na Gaeilge Chief Executive Seán Ó Coinn said, “I am delighted that an Irish language book will be central in the celebration of World Book Day 2022 today. I am sure that children and families throughout the island will enjoy reading this magical Irish language book. I hope it will encourage more reading in Irish at home.”

Foras na Gaeilge again congratulates Futa Fata on the 2021 Réics Carló prize, by the author Bridget Bhreathnach and the illustrator, Shona Shirley Macdonald.
