Learning fun for primary school children with Raidió na Life this Seachtain na Gaeilge!

Raidió na Life is putting the ‘Spraoi’ into Irish lessons this week as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2022 and inspiring a new generation of Irish language radio presenters to use Gaeilge on the airwaves!

As part of the Spraoi project, Raidió na Life has made a series of free educational resources available online for Gaelscoileanna as well as English-medium primary schools that wish to use them. The resources aim to teach broadcasting skills to children, giving them the opportunity to use Irish in a fun way, as they become radio stars!

SPRAOI Raidió na Life is a project that encourages children to use the Irish language in an enjoyable and educational way, improving their communication skills and their confidence. It also gives children a platform to have their voices heard on the radio by recording material for broadcast on Raidió na Life 106.4FM.

These online resources are being made available by Raidió na Life for free to use in classrooms all around the country. The attached guidelines 'Acmhainní do Mhúinteoirí' and 'Teaching Resources' give instructions on how to access and use the resources. Should teachers require any assistance, all they have to do is email spraoi@raidionalife.ie. With support from the SPRAOI team, teachers can record with the children in the classroom or the schoolyard and the recordings will be broadcast on Raidió na Life for all to hear!

The SPRAOI project has been developed with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Sound & Vision scheme, with the television license fee, and with support from Foras na Gaeilge.
