Foras na Gaeilge introduced the Accreditation System in 2006. This is a robust accreditation system, which takes into account the intricacies of the various dialects, modern and technical jargon, and prose and official communications. This ensures the highest standards in the translation industry and safeguards the reputation of competent translators. The accreditation system has a vital role to play in the continued development of the Irish language. To date 194 translators have been accredited under the system. The Translation and Interpreting Unit of University College Galway oversaw the latest examination for the Seal of Accreditation this year on behalf of Foras na Gaeilge.
